About Us

In the Beginning:

In 2002, Joey Rivera started Rivera Group with the intention of building a company that contained talented IT professionals with the creative minds to solve our industry's toughest IT problems.  The team has grown significantly since 2002, and we are proud of the accomplishments we have produced over the years.  Today, we specialize in providing our customers with forward-thinking systems architecture for world-wide enterprise solutions using various methods of technologies across diverse IT platforms. 

Executive Bios:

Dr. Joey Rivera Dr. Joey Rivera, President

Dr. Rivera has over 20 years experience in software development, and has provided IT solutions for the Department of Defense for almost a decade. He holds a Ph.D. in Software Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School. He has over 27 years military service and has held many positions of responsibility ranging from a Private in the US Marines, to an Army Reserve Officer assigned to US Pacific Command, J6. Dr. Rivera leads the Rivera Group R&D team and his published work can be viewed by clicking on our pubs page.

Kathy Mathews Kathy Mathews, CFO

Kathy’s expertise is in business development, corporate management, and business acquisition. Her strengths include analyzing market conditions for commercial development; developing and implementing business plans for new businesses or the expansion of existing businesses; establishing a financing network with commercial lenders and obtaining financing for projects; writing and implementing policies and procedures; and hiring and developing personnel.

Kathy has facilitated business and/or real estate transactions in excess of $35 million. She has also served as Owner, CEO, President and CFO in a wide spectrum of businesses including IT, commercial development, banking and inventory support.

Lonnie Williams Lonnie Williams, Vice President

Lonnie has more than 14 years of professional experience in Information Technology with the U.S. Army Accessions Command and U.S. Navy Recruiting Command. He has over 26 years of Personnel Management with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. He is a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.

Mike Kuzma Mike Kuzma, Vice President

Mike served as a Division Chief for the US Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) G3 for over 11 years. During this period Mike led multiple innovative IT strategic plans that revolutionized USAREC’s paper-based process into a fully automated recruiting process. Prior to his position as Division Chief, Mike worked in the Policy Branch of USAREC G3 for 4 years where he was responsible for the development of USAREC policies used to manage the enlistment and commissioning processes. Mike served for 18 years as a Soldier with the Army Recruiting Command at Little Rock DRC, San Antonio RBN, 5TH Brigade, and USAREC HQ. He also served for 3 years in the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii, and 5 years at posts in Fort Gordon, GA, Korea, and Germany. Mike is originally from Long Island, NY. He has been married to his wife Pat for 42 years, and the couple has two sons.

Mike Kuzma Andrew Hsu, Vice President

Andrew has over 16 years of direct experience supporting the Intelligence Community and the Combatant Commands both as a government employee and as a contractor. Activities ranged from analysis to research and development in both the image and geospatial areas. In the past three years, he was responsible for business capture and the internal research and development of a new LIDAR full motion sensor. He graduated from West Virginia University with an Aerospace Engineering degree.
